Practice for u13 to Opens start at 5:30pm on Thursdays. Our u17 opens will often train with Senior Shammies as we transition them into Colts.
Games are played on Sunday mornings across Sydney.
We welcome all players and we never close our registration at Petersham Juniors.
Girls are welcome at the Shammies! From u6 to the u12s they are mixed teams. From u13s up girls are welcome to continue playing with the boys but often they will form girls only teams.
The Shammies work closely with Sydney University Women's rugby to ensure all girls have a pathway to continue playing Rugby whether it is XVs or 7s.
We also offer girls only training in conjunction with Sydney University. These sessions are led by females and are a great opportunity for our girls to invite their friends along in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
Proudly funded by the NSW Government in 2023.
The Shammies Juniors work with Sense Rugby to ensure everyone in our community benefits from Rugby Training.
Sense Rugby is a rugby based occupational therapy program designed to help kids who usually find it difficult to be part of a sports team. There are many reasons why kids may struggle to find success and enjoyment in sport. Most of the kids they work with live with some of the following developmental delays and conditions:
Founded by occupational therapist, Carlien Parahi and Australia’s rugby sevens olympian Jesse Parahi, Sense Rugby gives kids a safe environment where experienced paediatric occupational therapists work with trained rugby players to help kids achieve success. They utilise a child’s strengths and their motivation to help them participate and be part of a community of their own.
