Rugby is a sport for everyone.

Girls who participate in PJRC are taught more than just how to play the sport - Rugby raises awareness about gender equality, giving them strong self-confidence and providing them with valuable leadership skills in organised sport.

We offer girls a mixed gender XV format rugby from 5 to 12. Girls can continue to play the mixed gender XV format rugby from 13 to 15 once a dispensation is approved by Sydney Junior Rugby Union. Girls over 16 can choose any regional Women’s rugby club such as Sydney University Rugby Club Women. We launched 7s format girls U11 team in 2022 and started a girls 7s format joint venture U10 team with Wests Junior Rugby Club in 2023.

Rugby 7s is showing a bright sporting future for girls and women as Australia’s Rugby Women’s Sevens team, the Pearls, won the inaugural Rugby 7s gold medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. The team has occupied a dominant position in the world since then.

Shammies girls could reach the highest pinnacle of the sport in the future!

In order to develop Girls Rugby in Inner West region, PJRC has been working with Sydney Junior Rugby Union and NSW Junior Rugby Union. Those Rugby organisations created a girls’ Rugby career pathway from U10 to U18. Please see the pathway information in the link below:
