The 1883 honour is proudly awarded to the players that the coaches deem to have epitomised the spirit of Shammies Rugby (Inner West Rugby Union Club). They play and train their hardest each and every week and always put the team ahead of themselves. This week we profile Walker Gaff from the 2018 season:

Walker (Tex) inspires teammates with his level headed leadership and powerful yet humble demeanour. Suspiciously fast for a forward, he scored numerous tries and regularly made crucial line breaks. Speed out of the line in defence and strong tackling were a big part of his game in the second half of the season. He dutifully upholds the family tradition of playing with the pigs (forwards) however is capable of playing in virtually any position. His strong character prompted match officials to commend him on his maturity, leadership and positive talk… especially during difficult games.
