The 1883 honour is proudly awarded to the players that the coaches deem to have epitomised the spirit of Shammies Rugby (Inner West Rugby Union Club). They play and train their hardest each and every week and always put the team ahead of themselves. This week we profile u10s Sunny Steyn from the 2019 season:

Sunny was a standout for us at centre and won our 1883 player of the year.  He reads the game so well and has all the attributes of a top player. His speed is a key strength, which got him equal top try scorer (14) for the year, but his attitude is his major asset. This guy gives 100% in every game and stays positive. He was selected for the Sydney Uni team on pure ability, but he became the Captain and Player of State Champs tournament because of his leadership capabilities. Keep an eye out for this name!
