100 game club – Ryan Gleeson

The 100 Game Club is for players and coaches that have represented Shammies (Sydney, Inner West, Junior Rugby Union Club) for at least 6 seasons. This week we profile Ryan Gleeson

What is your earliest memory of playing for Shammies?
My earliest memory is when I was in under 10s playing on a Friday night we were playing Waverley and it was a tough game we were right on the line and I picked off the back of a ruck and charged through there line defence to score my first try ever.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I look at the oppositions team and scout for the biggest player they have and make sure the first hit I make is on him.

What is your favourite moment playing for the Shammies?
One of my favourite moments playing for the shammies is when I received the 1883 award last year, had one of my best seasons and I began to jump in the line outs.

Any advice for new players joining the Shammies?
Put the time and the effort in, make your tackles and hit hard.

For all 100 Club members please see our honour board page.
